Finally: Travel − Follow the Money

It definitely is ironic:
I quite my job, leave my home to travel the world and what do I do? I spend 2½ month in Kaş and then 3 month in Sabang/Puerto Galera. So much for travelling.
The time in Kaş was planned as you shouldn’t rush your divemaster training but I hadn’t planned on staying in Sabang for that long. It was good that I did however. It gave me ample time to prepare for my IDC (Instructor Develompent Course) and the internship afterwards was also very insightful and gave me a lot of confidence to teach (and my first two certifications).
But for now I spent to much time at one place and just want to move and travel.

In 2010 the Philippines issued new banknotes which show on the reverse site some natural wonders (2 of them UNESCO heritage sites) and as I came to the Philippines not having a guide book I’ll “follow the money” and visit those sites.

Yes, the mountain is circled by giant flying whale sharks. But mainly in May so I don’t expect to see any myself.

[/caption]My first stop will be the Mayon Volcano which can be found on the 100 Peso note and in southern Luzon near Legazpi.
Next will be the 50 Peso (Taal Lake), the20 Peso (Banaue Rice Terraces) and the 200 Peso bill with the Chocolate Hills in an order that has yet to be determined.

I already did the 500 Peso note in 2011 (Puerto Princesa Subterranean River) and the 1000 Peso will be (fittingly) too expensive for me as a diving safari to the Tubbataha Reef costs hundreds of 1000 Peso bills.

So I’m travelling again since a few days and it feels great. Staying in one place for such a long time is not my cup of tea, I’m enjoying 7 hour bus rides too much! And I keep enjoying the Philippines and the Filipinos more and more. I often find myself walking down a street with a broad and happy grin on my face. But more on this later.
